Job Description
Job Overview Classroom Assistant needed for private special education school for students with physical/multiple disabilities who are medically fragile. The hours are 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The position can be physically demanding. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Must possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills and have a willingness to learn and use new technology. Duties Assist the teacher with preparation of materials and carrying out lessons. Provide assistance to students who need additional help. Assist the students in the bathroom, i.e. diapering, toilet training, and changing. This requires a significant amount of lifting every day (2-3 times per day). Assist with leisure activities and carry out therapy recommendations. Assist with mealtime. Communicate effectively with students, teachers, parents, and other staff to promote a cohesive educational experience. Criminal history and background check required.
