Job Description

Our Little Angels is a neighborhood early childhood program serving our community for more than 20 years. We are looking for a reliable, energetic, and caring Teacher Assistant to join our
NYC DOE 3-K
classroom and work alongside our dedicated Lead Teacher. This is a Monday-Friday position, approximately 8:00 AM-2:00 PM , working primarily with children ages 3-4. We are looking for someone who enjoys being hands-on in the classroom, takes initiative, and understands that a great Teacher Assistant is truly the Lead Teacher's right-hand person. This can also be a great opportunity for someone currently studying Early Childhood Education, working toward NYS certification, on a Study Plan, or looking to gain meaningful classroom experience. What You'll Do Work closely with the Lead Teacher to support the daily operation of a DOE 3-K classroom Help prepare classroom materials, activities, and learning centers before lessons begin Reinforce classroom routines, expectations, and behavior strategies established by the Lead Teacher Help children transition smoothly throughout the day, including arrival, meals, outdoor play, bathroom breaks, rest periods, and dismissal Monitor and interact with children during classroom activities, lunch, recess, and outdoor play Assist with attendance and basic classroom recordkeeping Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom throughout the day Communicate closely with the Lead Teacher and other staff regarding children's needs and daily classroom activities Assist children with toileting and occasionally changing diapers when necessary Help set up and clean up activities, materials, meals, and classroom spaces Participate actively in classroom activities rather than simply supervising from the sidelines What We're Looking For Reliable and able to consistently work five days per week Experience working with children ages 3-4 strongly preferred Warm, patient, responsible, and comfortable working closely with young children Energetic and comfortable being on your feet and actively engaged for most of the school day Proactive — someone who sees what needs to be done and helps without always needing to be asked Organized and able to follow established classroom routines Comfortable working collaboratively and taking direction from the Lead Teacher Strong communication and interpersonal skills Early Childhood Education students and candidates working toward NYS certification are encouraged to apply Schedule & Environment Monday-Friday Approximately 8:00 AM-2:00 PM Paid lunch Consistent school-year schedule DOE 3-K classroom Small, neighborhood early childhood program Ample parking We take reliability seriously, but we also want this to be an enjoyable place to work.
