Job Description

Middle School Learning Support Teacher The Manitou School is seeking a warm, flexible, experienced, progressive Learning Support Teacher to work with middle school students (grades 6-8) who benefit from academic support, intervention, and differentiation. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about working in a collaborative, student-centered environment and committed to fostering inclusion and academic growth for all learners.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide individualized and small-group instruction to support students with diverse learning needs; Collaborate with classroom teachers to implement accommodations and modifications within the curriculum; Assess students' learning styles and develop tailored strategies to enhance academic success; Serve as a liaison between families, teachers, and any outside specialists or evaluators; Support the development of executive functioning, study skills, and self-advocacy in students; Serve as a valued member of the Middle School Teaching team, sharing insights about students and working together to provide students with a wholistic learning experience; Participate in professional development and school-wide initiatives to support a culture of inclusion and continuous learning.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Education, or related field (Master's preferred) Certification in Special Education or related area preferred Minimum 2 years experience working with middle school students, preferably in a learning support or resource capacity Deep understanding of a range of learning profiles and differentiated instructional practices Strong communication and collaboration skills Commitment to progressive education and the school's mission and values In order to apply for this position, please send a resume, an educational philosophy statement, and three written references to careers @ manitouschool.org.
