In person Job Description ABC Ninos Afterschool is looking for a caring, energetic, and dependable Afterschool Assistant Teacher to join our team. The Assistant Teacher will work alongside the lead teacher to provide a safe, positive, and engaging environment for children during our afterschool program. In this role, you will assist with daily classroom activities, homework help, student supervision, and the preparation of learning and recreational materials. The ideal candidate enjoys working with children, communicates well with both students and staff, and is patient, responsible, and enthusiastic. Afterschool Assistant Teacher Responsibilities Assist the lead teacher with implementing daily lessons, activities, and enrichment programming. Supervise students and help maintain a safe, welcoming, and organized classroom environment. Assist children with homework and assignments, including reading, writing, and math. Support educational, recreational, arts and crafts, and other age-appropriate activities. Prepare and organize classroom materials, supplies, books, games, and activity equipment as needed. Interact positively with children and provide guidance, encouragement, and emotional support. Help students follow classroom routines, expectations, and behavioral guidelines. Assist with transitions between activities and ensure students are appropriately supervised throughout the program. Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom and activity space. Communicate effectively with the lead teacher and other program staff regarding student needs or concerns. Follow all ABC Ninos Afterschool policies, procedures, and safety guidelines. Perform other program-related duties as assigned. Afterschool Assistant Teacher Requirements Previous experience working with children in an afterschool program, childcare center, school, summer camp, or similar setting preferred. Ability to create positive and supportive interactions with children. Friendly, patient, dependable, and able to remain calm in a busy classroom environment. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively as part of a team. Good organizational and problem-solving skills. Ability to reinforce classroom rules, routines, and expectations consistently. Commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and positive environment for students.
Experience Childcare:
1 year (Preferred) License/Certification First Aid Certification (Preferred) CPR Certification (Preferred) ABC Ninos Afterschool is looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with children and is excited to help create a fun, supportive, and enriching afterschool experience.
