$35,000.00 - $46,000.00 per year Job description: Kiddie Academy of Floral Park, in partnership with PEEK NY , is seeking a warm, collaborative, and dedicated Teacher Assistant to join our Special Class in an Integrated Setting (SCIS) classroom serving preschool students ages 3-5. This unique classroom combines the nurturing, engaging environment and Life Essentials® curriculum of Kiddie Academy with the specialized instruction and support of a NYSED-approved preschool special education program through PEEK NY. The ideal candidate is a caring and dependable educator who enjoys working as part of a collaborative classroom team and is passionate about helping young children with varying abilities learn, play, build relationships, and grow together. Essential Responsibilities Support the lead special education teacher in creating a warm, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment where all children can thrive. Assist with daily classroom activities, lessons, routines, and transitions. Support students during whole-group, small-group, and individualized instruction. Reinforce instructional strategies, accommodations, modifications, and positive behavior supports implemented by the teaching team. Support the implementation of student IEP goals and individualized learning strategies under the direction of the lead teacher. Assist children in developing communication, social-emotional, self-help, independence, and peer interaction skills. Provide individualized support to students as needed while encouraging independence and meaningful participation in classroom activities. Collaborate closely with the lead teacher, other teaching assistants, related service providers, school leadership, and PEEK NY. Assist with toileting, feeding, and other personal care needs as appropriate. Prepare classroom materials and help maintain a safe, organized, welcoming, and engaging learning environment. Actively supervise students and support their participation throughout the school day. Participate in team meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities. Maintain student confidentiality and all required documentation in accordance with NYSED regulations, PEEK NY program requirements, and Kiddie Academy policies and procedures . Build positive relationships with children, families, and fellow team members. Participate as an active member of the broader Kiddie Academy of Floral Park school community. Qualifications New York State Teacher Assistant Certification required. High School Diploma or equivalent required; college coursework or degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, or a related field preferred. Experience working with preschool-aged children strongly preferred. Experience supporting children with disabilities and/or IEPs is a plus. Strong communication, organization, teamwork, and interpersonal skills. Ability to lift, bend, sit on the floor, and actively engage with young children throughout the school day. Must meet all applicable NYSED fingerprinting and clearance requirements . A genuine passion for early childhood education and inclusive learning.
