Job Description

TEACHER AIDE NON-COMPETITIVE 2025-2027 DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS
The work involves assisting and relieving school teachers of duties, which involve non-instructional tasks related to the teaching process. This position differs from School Monitor in that the duties of Teacher Aide are more complex in nature. Work is performed under the direct supervision and instruction of a Teacher or Administrator. Does related work as required.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES
Provide support to the teacher to ensure a safe and stimulating educational environment; Assist teachers with study hall, corridor, lunchroom, and monitorial duties; Prepare materials for lessons, demonstrations, and bulletin boards; Assist in setting up classroom equipment such as audio-visual records, computer related instructions, and laboratory; Distribute and collect instructional materials to students; Relieve teachers of classroom duties for short periods by supervising students using prepared learning materials; Provide personal assistance to students which may include toileting, hygiene care, feeding support, and mobility assistance; Assist teachers and students in selecting supplementary materials from library; Assist students with instructional assignments and reinforcement activities using learning materials; Provide assistance with correction of test papers, entering grades in database, maintain student files, update attendance records, and prepare statistical reports; Perform simple clerical duties such as copying, alphabetizing, filing, and sorting; May greet students, teachers and visitors at main entrance and provide general information; May translate foreign language and sign for hearing impaired; May read to children in lower grades; May render minor first aid.
FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS
Good general intelligence; ability to establish good relationships with children and others; familiarity with classroom routine, good background or knowledge in specific field where specialized duties are involved; above average clerical aptitude; resourcefulness in conducting above described activities indirectly related to teaching process; neat personal appearance; ability to maintain discipline; tact; courtesy; good judgment; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma.
SCHEDULE
10 month student calendar position
SALARY :
Base = $16.10 - $17.00 per hour based on experience plus a .50 per hour differential when classified as Special Education. Internal candidates please submit letter of interest to Lynda Quick, Esq, Interim Superintendent
