Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Certified Teacher Assistant to join our vibrant educational team. In this role, you will provide essential classroom support to teachers and students, ensuring a nurturing environment that promotes learning and development. Your energetic approach will help foster positive behaviors, facilitate individualized instruction, and assist with classroom management. The ideal candidate is committed to empowering students with diverse needs, including those with disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, and developmental challenges. Responsibilities Support teachers in implementing lesson plans aligned with the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) to promote equitable learning opportunities for all students. Assist students with daily activities, including literacy education, math, and basic childcare tasks, ensuring they stay engaged and motivated. Provide physical assistance and behavioral support for students with disabilities or behavioral disorders, following individualized education programs (IEPs). Use effective behavior management techniques to foster positive classroom behavior and address behavioral challenges constructively. Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to develop and implement strategies for student support, including communication skills development such as American Sign Language (ASL). Manage classroom routines and support classroom management efforts to create a safe and organized learning environment. Handle confidential information responsibly while supporting students' educational needs in compliance with privacy standards. Skills Experience working with children, especially in early childhood or special education settings. Knowledge of childhood development principles and classroom management strategies. Familiarity with autism spectrum disorders support and behavior management for students with special needs. Proficiency in communication skills, including writing skills and alternative communication methods like ASL. Ability to work collaboratively with educators, therapists, parents, and other professionals for comprehensive student support. Experience supporting students with disabilities through classroom assistance or physical support as needed. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple responsibilities effectively while maintaining confidentiality.
