Job Description:
The Assistant Child Care Teacher will work with a group of children under the guidance and supervision of a professional teacher to support the care, safety, and well-being of each child. S/he will use the philosophy of the YMCA mission and the four core values (caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility) to deliver and implement a program of the highest quality where every child has the opportunity to reach their fullest potential. The Assistant Child Care Teacher will assist with classroom activities, daily routines, outdoor play, meals, nap time, bathroom/diapering procedures, and developmentally appropriate learning experiences. The role also includes maintaining a clean, organized, and safe classroom; completing required documentation; supporting positive relationships with children and families; and working collaboratively with teaching staff to provide a high-quality early childhood program.
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED required. Candidates must be at least 18 years of age and have previous child care or related experience. Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate practices is preferred. CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain, is required, along with completion of all required background clearances and New York State OCFS training requirements. Excellent communication and teamwork skills are essential.
Schedule:
Full-time; shifts may include 7:30am-4:30pm, 8:30am-5:30pm, or 9:00am-6:00pm.
