Job Description

The district has a vacancy for a Program Assistant for Girls Basketball.

Winter season:

November 16 - Feb 26, 2027 The Program Assistant supports the head coaches in organizing daily practices, mentoring student-athletes, and ensuring compliance with school, league, and state athletic association regulations.

Position Summary:

The Program Assistant works collaboratively with the head athletic staff to foster skill development, good sportsmanship, and academic responsibility among middle and high school student-athletes. This role reports directly to the Head Varsity Coach and Athletic Director. Key Responsibilities

Practice & Game Execution:

Assist in planning and running daily practice sessions, teaching sport-specific fundamentals, and executing game-day strategies.

•

Student Supervision:

Maintain continuous, direct supervision of student-athletes during practices, home/away events, and team travel.

•

Compliance & Safety:

Enforce athletic guidelines (such as SGF Athletics, Section 2 Athletics, NYSPHSAA rules), maintain up-to-date medical/eligibility records, and follow emergency action plans.

•

Administrative Support:

Help manage equipment distribution, uniform inventories, and logistical coordination like team transportation.

•

Player Development:

Monitor academic eligibility, mentor players on character and sportsmanship, and provide constructive athletic feedback.

Qualifications:
Education:

High school diploma or equivalent; a college degree or teaching certification is preferred.

Certifications:

Valid CPR, AED, First Aid & Concussion Management certifications. NYS Coaching Certification preferred, (or in progress).
