Job Description

Pro Action of Steuben and Yates, Inc. is seeking a dedicated and flexible Floating Teaching Assistant to join our Head Start Program. This full-time, 12-month position supports classrooms across Steuben and Yates Counties, working collaboratively with lead teachers to create a nurturing and engaging learning environment for pre-kindergarten children. As a valued member of our team, you will help implement high-quality early childhood education while ensuring compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and New York State regulations. Responsibilities Partner with lead teachers to plan and implement daily classroom activities for pre-kindergarten children. Support adherence to Head Start Performance Standards and NYS Office of Children and Family Services Day Care Regulations. Participate in weekly planning sessions, staff meetings, and required training. Ensure a safe, healthy, and inclusive classroom environment. Assist with classroom and program modifications as needed. Help manage classroom inventory and supplies. Observe and document childrens development, maintaining accurate anecdotal records. Assist in utilizing the Teaching Strategies GOLD child outcomes assessment tool at required checkpoints. Support the implementation of lesson plans and learning objectives as assigned by the teacher. Perform administrative and logistical tasks to support program operations and information management. Travel between classroom sites within Steuben and Yates Counties as needed. Qualifications Associates degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field, or a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, or a State-Awarded Certificate meeting or exceeding CDA requirements. Experience working with young children in an educational setting is preferred. Strong organizational and basic math skills. Effective communication and language skills to comprehend and convey information. Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office (Excel), and office equipment such as copiers, scanners, and fax machines. Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and interact professionally with families from diverse backgrounds. Capability to follow written and oral instructions and solve problems in standardized situations. Valid drivers license and reliable transportation for regular travel within the service area. Compensation $17$18 per hour , based on experience and qualifications.
