We built this school around a simple conviction: children learn best when they feel safe, known, and well. Our classrooms are small by design, our pace is human, and every adult here knows every child. We are looking for someone who understands that supporting a child's physical safety and daily dignity is not a lesser form of teaching — it is the ground that holds everything we do.

The Position Hours:

Approximately 10 hours per week, across three weekdays. Specific days and times are negotiable with the right candidate.

$20.00 per hour

Term:

2026-27 school year, with the potential for expanded hours as enrollment grows. What You'll Do Provide close, attentive supervision and physical assistance for a young learner with mobility needs — including stair navigation, hallway transitions, playground time, and arrival and dismissal. Assist with personal care and adaptive routines, carried out with warmth, discretion, and respect for the child's dignity. Support students during lunch and unstructured times — opening containers, carrying items, ensuring safe seating and positioning. Reinforce visual supports, sensory strategies, and structured routines under the direction of the lead teacher. Provide small-group and one-to-one instructional support as directed by the lead teacher and intervention specialist. Assist with emergency preparedness, including individualized evacuation procedures. Collect straightforward observational data as requested to support progress monitoring. Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all student information. Who Thrives in This Role You are patient, steady, and calm — especially during transitions and moments of dysregulation. You are physically able to assist a young child with mobility: steadying, lifting when needed, navigating stairs, and supervising actively outdoors. You treat personal care as ordinary, unremarkable caregiving, because that is what it is. You take direction well from a lead teacher while exercising sound independent judgment when it matters. You want meaningful part-time work with real relationships, not just hours on a schedule. Requirements Ohio Educational Aide Permit, OR a valid Ohio educator license, OR a valid Ohio substitute teaching license. BCI (Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation) and FBI background checks. High school diploma or equivalent. Physical ability to assist with student mobility, including stairs and active outdoor supervision. Professional references. Willingness to serve as a mandated reporter of suspected child abuse or neglect, as required of all Ohio school employees.
