Job Description
Overview Join our vibrant educational community as a Teacher Assistant/Float, where your enthusiasm and dedication will directly impact the growth and development of young learners. In this dynamic role, you will support classroom teachers across various ages ensuring a nurturing environment that promotes early childhood education, literacy, math skills, and social-emotional development. Your energy and flexibility will help create an engaging learning atmosphere for children with diverse needs, including those with disabilities or special education requirements. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate with other educators and make a meaningful difference in children's lives every day. Duties Assist classroom teachers with lesson planning, instructional activities, and curriculum implementation across different subjects such as literacy, math, and early childhood education. Support individual students or small groups to reinforce learning objectives, especially in areas like reading, writing, numeracy, and behavior management. Provide care and supervision for children during classroom activities, recess, lunch periods, and transitions to ensure safety and positive behavior. Adapt instructional materials and activities to meet the needs of children with disabilities or special education plans, including working with students on the autism spectrum or with other developmental challenges. Maintain a well-organized classroom environment by managing supplies, assisting with classroom management strategies, and supporting Montessori or preschool methodologies as needed. Collaborate with teachers to develop engaging lesson plans that incorporate curriculum standards while fostering creativity and independence. Support early childhood development through toddler care practices and age-appropriate activities in daycare or preschool settings. Qualifications Prior experience working with children in educational settings such as childcare, preschool, private schools, or special education programs (training provided). Knowledge of childhood development principles, behavior management techniques, and classroom management strategies (training provided). Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with teachers, parents, and students. Ability to adapt quickly to different classroom environments as a float or substitute teacher. Experience working with individuals with disabilities or special needs is highly desirable. First Aid and CPR Certification is a plus.
