Bilingual Paraprofessional (English and Spanish) Shoreway High School Cleveland, OH Job Details Full-time $40,000 a year 1 day ago Benefits Employee assistance program Vision insurance Life insurance Retirement plan Qualifications Crisis intervention Spanish Administrative experience Working with students Teaching Full Job Description Shoreway High School is looking for a bilingual Paraprofessional (English and Spanish)to provide support to our ESL teacher, and other staff personnel. The ideal candidate has a substitute teaching license or paraprofessional license and experience working with a culturally diverse population.
Key Responsibilities:
Work under the direction of certified teachers to support classroom instruction and individual student needs. Provide one-on-one and small-group academic support in core subjects (Math, English, Science, Social Studies). Assist the ESL teacher with student data entry and student support Support students in developing appropriate social and behavioral skills, including conflict resolution and positive peer interactions. Monitor student behavior and provide crisis intervention when necessary, following school policies and behavior intervention plans. Help maintain a structured and respectful classroom environment. Supervise students during non-instructional times Communicate regularly with teachers, administrators, and support staff about student progress and concerns. Assist with administrative tasks such as preparing materials, documenting student behavior, and entering data. Participate in professional development and training related to trauma-informed practices, restorative justice, and youth engagement.Experience:
- Previous experience working with students, particularly those who speak Spanish
- Knowledge of English as a Secondary Language practices
- Familiarity with behavior management techniques and positive reinforcement strategies
- Understanding of childhood development and learning styles
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other professionals
- Strong communication skills to effectively communicate with students, parents, and staff members Candidate must have or be able to obtain an Ohio substitute teaching or paraprofessional license.
