Job Description
Overview This position serves as an assistant teacher in a classroom in the morning and as a physical education teacher in the afternoon. As a physical education teacher, you will have a passion for promoting physical fitness and well-being among students, fostering a love of sports and physical activity. This role designs and implements engaging lesson plans that encourage teamwork, sportsmanship, and healthy lifestyles. Working with children from kindgergarden to grade six, this position introduces the basics of competitive sports with an emphasis on having fun and practicing sportsmanship. As an assistant teacher, this position spends half of the day alongside a lead teacher in an elementary classroom, supporting the teacher, the environment, and the students. Responsibilities Develop and deliver comprehensive physical education curricula that align with Ohio state standards. Teach a variety of physical activities including soccer, basketball, baseball, and general fitness. Foster an inclusive environment that encourages participation from all students regardless of skill level. Implement behavior management strategies to maintain a positive learning environment. Assess student performance and provide constructive feedback to support their growth in physical skills. Organize and supervise sports events, competitions, and extracurricular activities. Collaborate with other educators to integrate health education into the curriculum. Maintain safety standards during all physical activities and ensure proper use of equipment. Assist classroom teachers with daily instructional activities, including lesson planning and implementing curriculum related to physical health, literacy, and math Support children's social-emotional development through positive behavior management and classroom management techniques Experience Teaching physical education or related fields. Background in sports coaching is desirable. Experience working with students in a childcare or educational setting is preferred. Knowledge of various sports and fitness disciplines. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage students and collaborate effectively with colleagues. Familiarity with behavior management techniques to create a supportive learning environment.
