Overview Join our dynamic educational team as a Teacher Assistant, where your enthusiasm and dedication will make a meaningful difference in the lives of students with diverse learning needs. In this role, you will support classroom instruction, assist with behavior management, and collaborate closely with teachers and specialists to foster an inclusive and nurturing learning environment. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to early childhood education and special education programs, helping children develop essential skills and reach their full potential. Responsibilities Provide direct support to students with disabilities, including those with autism spectrum disorders and developmental disabilities, ensuring they receive personalized assistance aligned with their Individualized Education Program (IEP). Assist in implementing curriculum plans across subjects such as literacy, math, and social skills, incorporating strategies like Montessori or preschool methodologies where applicable. Support classroom management by maintaining a positive environment, encouraging appropriate behavior, and applying behavior management techniques tailored for students with behavioral disorders or special needs. Facilitate communication using American Sign Language (ASL) or other augmentative communication methods for students requiring alternative communication supports. Help with physical assistance for students who need mobility support or other forms of physical care during classroom activities. Collaborate with teachers, speech therapists, occupational therapists, and other professionals to develop and execute lesson plans that meet diverse student needs. Handle confidential information responsibly while documenting student progress and supporting data collection for IEP meetings and compliance with the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). Experience Prior experience working with children in early childhood education settings such as preschool or toddler care is highly desirable. Demonstrated classroom experience supporting students with disabilities or special education needs, including familiarity with behavior management strategies. Knowledge of childhood development principles and curriculum development tailored for young learners and students with developmental delays. Experience working specifically with students on the autism spectrum or those requiring additional behavioral support is preferred. Proficiency in basic math, literacy education, and classroom support techniques that promote inclusive learning environments. Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with colleagues, parents, and specialists to support student success. Ability to handle confidential information discreetly while providing compassionate care and support to students with diverse needs. From $14.40 per hour
