August 20, 2026 Position Overview The Kindergarten Assistant supports the Lead Teacher in providing and maintaining a warm, calm, and well-organized classroom environment rooted in Waldorf education. This role centers on caring for the children in a way that reflects the values and practices of Waldorf pedagogy, while helping to uphold the daily rhythm and flow of the classroom. The assistant works closely with the Lead Teacher to ensure a nurturing, predictable, and developmentally appropriate environment that supports the physical, emotional, and social well-being of each child. Key Responsibilities

• Arrive punctually and demonstrate reliability and consistency each day.
• Support the Lead Teacher in maintaining the classroom environment and daily rhythm.
• Help prepare and care for the classroom, including cleaning, organizing, and setting up materials and activities.
• Snack preparation.
• Supervise and care for children in the classroom, on the playground, and during special activities.
• Engages supportively with children during circle time, story time, crafts, and daily routines through imitation, active participation, and attentive presence.
• Learn and support songs, verses, and classroom routines in alignment with the Lead Teacher.
• Observe children attentively and respond to their needs with warmth and care.
• Communicate observations, needs, and concerns directly and promptly with the Lead Teacher.
• Maintain appropriate confidentiality regarding students and families.
• Participate in faculty meetings, parent meetings, and school festivals as required. (occasional evenings/weekends).
• Demonstrate a willingness to study and practice Waldorf education principles, including reading assigned materials before the start of the school year. Work Environment & Outdoor Expectations
• Regularly works outdoors in a variety of weather conditions; models preparedness and supports children by wearing and encouraging appropriate seasonal outdoor clothing and gear (e.g., rainwear, sun protection, cold-weather layers).
• Participates in daily outdoor activities in all seasons, maintaining a safe, attentive presence and supporting children's engagement with the natural environment. Physical Demands / Essential Functions
• Frequently moves throughout indoor and outdoor learning environments; regularly bends, kneels, crouches, and sits on the floor; and may lift, carry, or assist children and classroom materials (generally up to 25-50 pounds) as part of daily classroom routines.

• Experience working with young children (early childhood experience preferred)

• Food handler's permit (or willingness to obtain- school will cover cost) Preferred Qualifications
• Familiarity with Waldorf/Steiner early childhood education
• Experience with children with diverse learning needs
• Current First Aid/CPR certification
• Interest in developing skills in storytelling, puppetry, singing, and movement
