POSITION SUMMARY
The educational assistant shall assist the teacher or building administrator in a supportive capacity. The role of the educational assistant is adaptable to many support tasks within the educational environment. View Description
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE
(Minimum Qualifications) All educational assistants or others employed or contracted in that capacity must: Have a high school diploma or the equivalent; Be at least 18 years of age; and Have standards of moral character as required of teachers (OAR 584-005-0005).
Educational Assistants must have:
Completed two years of study at an institution of higher education; or obtained an Associate's (or higher) degree; or met a rigorous standard of quality and demonstrate through a formal state, or local academic assessment or para-educator certificate program, knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing: Reading, writing, and mathematics; or reading readiness, writing readiness, and mathematics readiness, as appropriate (Assessment is offered by District).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 1-2
years experience working as an educational assistant in a k-12 school district. Some college coursework.
COMPENSATION
Wage Schedule:
$20.20-$25.85/hour Work days: 180 Medical, dental and vision insurance Life insurance, AD&D, Long term disability included (Optional insurances available) Personal days, Sick days
JCSD 509-J
pays the employee's share (6%) of the Public Employees Retirement System Contribution
