DEFINITION:
Classified employee under the supervision of the DLC Special Education Teacher. The Instructional Assistant will perform a variety of tasks associated with the teaching process: supervising students, presenting prepared or standardized lessons, administering tests, and performing related work as requested. The Instructional Assistant assume routine supervisory, clerical, materials handling, and short-term planning tasks in an efficient manner. The Instructional Assistant may also be expected to perform certain duties related to a student's physical needs (e.g. catheterization, lifting, toileting, transferring, feeding, etc.). Handling body fluids of severely disabled students may be a daily task.
