Job Description
Job Summary:
ISTs work under the direction of classroom teachers to provide in-classroom support and small group instruction for students. This position is full-time and requires a candidate who is flexible and willing to provide coverage for teacher absences. There is potential for the person in this position to move into a long-term substitute classroom teacher for first grade.
Key Responsibilities:
Classroom Support:
Assist classroom teachers in providing instruction and support to students during class activities.
Small Group Instruction:
Lead small group instruction sessions to reinforce lessons and provide additional support to students who need it.
Teacher Coverage:
Provide coverage for classroom teachers during absences, ensuring continuity of instruction and maintaining a positive learning environment.
Student Engagement:
Foster a supportive and engaging classroom atmosphere that encourages student participation and learning.
Collaboration:
Work closely with classroom teachers to understand lesson plans and instructional goals, ensuring seamless support for students.
Student Assessment:
Assist in assessing student progress and providing feedback to classroom teachers to help inform instructional strategies.
Classroom Management:
Help maintain classroom order and discipline, following school policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required. Experience working with elementary school students is required.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and students.
Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing needs and provide coverage as needed.
