POSITION SUMMARY :
To assist teachers and reading specialists with student assessment, direct instruction, progress monitoring, and administrative support tasks.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
: Employee must have the ability to perform the following essential functions on a timely basis with or without reasonable accommodations. To successfully perform this position, a person must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Assist with assessing students using both Fountas and Pinnell and DIBELS during benchmark periods Progress Monitor reading support students on a monthly or biweekly basis based using DIBELS Work with students in grades 2-5 individually using the Read Naturally program in order to further develop fluency. Student progress will need to be monitored and anecdotal records should be taken on each student. Provide direct instruction for struggling Kindergarten students either individually or in a small group setting. Student progress will need to be monitored and anecdotal records should be taken on each student. Assist Reading Specialist with administrative tasks Regular and consistent attendance Other duties may be assigned by the principal This position description does not express or imply that these are the only duties to be performed by the incumbent(s) in this position. WORK SCHEDULE
: 10-month position, 5.5 hours/day, 182 days/year
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to maintain a stationary position and move about to access multiple classrooms, file cabinets, office equipment, etc. The position requires the employee to operate a computer and other office equipment such as a copier, printer, etc.. Ability to lift and/or exert up to 20 lbs. of force to occasionally move objects. The position requires meeting deadlines with severe time constraints, interacting with staff and the public, and occasional irregular or extended work hours. This job requires the ability to observe, inspect, identify, and determine the accuracy of written documentation and fine details. Some/occasional local travel may be necessary: Must be able to provide own transportation to school-related functions/meetings, community agencies, and schools throughout our service area. The employee is frequently required to communicate and interact in person and by phone or e-mail with the public, students, parents, staff, other administrators, board members, and community agencies.
