Job Description

Come spend your days somewhere joyful. We think preschool should feel like childhood. Our classrooms are busy with children building, painting, wondering, talking, pretending, experimenting, getting messy, making friends and figuring out how the world works. Teachers aren't standing on the sidelines managing all of that. They're right there in it with them. Chabad Garden School is looking for a warm, dependable and genuinely engaged Assistant Teacher to join our team. This could be a wonderful fit for someone who loves young children, enjoys being part of a close-knit team and wants to work in a school where relationships, curiosity and meaningful play really matter. What being an Assistant Teacher at CGS looks like You'll work alongside a Lead Teacher as an important part of the classroom team. That means sitting on the floor building a very complicated block tower. Listening carefully to a two-year-old's very long story. Helping a child figure out how to join a game. Setting up materials that invite children to explore. Reading the same favorite book again. And yes, helping with snack, diapers or toileting, rest time, cleanup and all the other ordinary parts of a preschool day. You'll also: Engage with children throughout play, activities and daily routines Support small-group and individual learning experiences Help create a calm, warm and inviting classroom Supervise children carefully indoors and outdoors Prepare and care for classroom materials and spaces Build positive relationships with children, families and coworkers Notice what needs to be done and work together with your teaching team We aren't looking for someone who simply keeps the room running. We're looking for someone who notices children . Someone who talks with them, plays alongside them, gets curious with them and becomes one of the people they are happy to see when they walk through the door each morning. You might be a great fit if you... Genuinely enjoy spending your day with young children Are warm, patient and playful Show up reliably and on time Are comfortable getting on the floor, getting messy and being actively involved Can take direction and also take initiative Like being part of a team Are open to feedback and interested in growing as an educator Understand that the little moments in a child's day matter Previous preschool, childcare or nanny experience is a plus, but we're also open to someone with less formal experience who has the right temperament, reliability and desire to learn. Your schedule Our primary opening is Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM-3:00 PM . If you're looking for more hours, we may also be able to offer a 7:30 AM-3:30 PM schedule . A little about us Chabad Garden School is a Jewish early childhood program serving children from infancy through Pre-K. We care deeply about creating a school that feels warm, thoughtful and personal, for children, families and teachers . Our approach is relationship-based, play-centered and rooted in the belief that young children are capable, curious people whose ideas deserve to be taken seriously. Jewish traditions and values are joyfully woven into school life, but you do not need to be Jewish to work here . We welcome teachers who are respectful of and comfortable participating in the culture and traditions of our school community. If you've been reading this and thinking, this sounds like my kind of place , we'd really like to hear from you. Send us your resume and tell us a little about yourself, especially what you enjoy most about working with young children.
