A Teacher Assistant assists classroom teachers by providing extra individual attention and instruction to students. Helps teachers with recordkeeping, preparation for lessons and activities and supervising students. May work with special education students, or work in a school library or computer lab; may be called teacher aide or paraprofessional.

Job Description
Paraprofessional Responsibilities may include:
Supporting students with academic and behavioral needs Providing direct and indirect classroom support Reinforcing appropriate social skills and positive behaviors Assisting with classroom activities and special education strategies Collecting and documenting daily student data Following established behavior support plans Communicating with teachers and other members of the educational team Supporting daily routines and transitions Providing crisis intervention when needed Utilizing Safety-Care techniques, including physical intervention only when necessary, properly trained, and as a last resort Helping maintain a safe, positive, and supportive learning environmentParaprofessional Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent Experience working with children preferred School-based, special education, behavioral health, or Para experience is a plus Ability to complete required background checks and clearances Current credentials and clearances preferred Strong communication and teamwork skills Reliable, patient, positive, and comfortable supporting students with a variety of needs Why Connect withACS:
