Job Description
We are seeking a compassionate and reliable Instructor Aide to support our Head Start classrooms. Works with children ages three to five enrolled in the Head Start program to support their development in all areas (social, self-help, cognitive, fine/gross motor, language/literacy, math, science, social studies, the arts) in order to prepare them for transition to school age programming.
What You'll Do:
Support classroom teachers in implementing daily lesson plans that foster social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development in children ages three to five. Engage children in creative learning activities, including literacy, math, science, art, and social play, to prepare them for kindergarten. Assist in maintaining a safe, healthy, and welcoming classroom environment — ensuring compliance with all Head Start Performance Standards. Help with mealtime preparation, cleanup, and modeling positive nutrition and hygiene practices. Collaborate with parents, volunteers, and staff to promote family engagement and participation in classroom activities. Contribute to child observations, assessments, and documentation to support individual learning goals.What You'll Bring:
Education:
Prefer an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or related field.Acceptable alternatives include:
CDA credential or equivalent certificate OR High School Diploma or GED with proof of enrollment in a CDA or Associate program (completion within 2 years of hire).Experience:
Prior work with preschool-aged children preferred.Skills:
Strong teamwork, adaptability, confidentiality, and ability to follow procedures and familiarity with Head Start regulations, school bus safety, and/or food handling is a plus. Individuals without valid driver's license will only be permitted to substitute as Instructor Aide at a designated site building. Maintain a current CDA, as applicable.What We Offer:
Compensation based on education qualifications: $15.45- High School Diploma/GED
- No CDA, $15.71
- CDA or ECE Certificate, $16.31
- Associate/Bachelor's Degree Paid time off and holidays.
