Job Summary:
Provide academic, functional, and behavioral support to assigned student(s) as directed by the Life Skills Support Teacher and/or Classroom Teacher. Support the Life Skills Teacher with daily classroom routines and expectations.
Position Information:
Full-time - with benefits, and Part-time available Monday-Friday, 184 days/year Hours per day: Varies Range 08, Starting Salary $16.00
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Encourage student independence. Provide instructional support to the teacher or assigned student(s) by assisting in differentiated instruction and formative and summative assessment. Provide functional support to assigned student(s) to assist with toileting, feeding, and/or safety (in classrooms, hallways, cafeteria, playground, etc.). Implement strategies and interventions as outlined in student behavioral support plans. Collect data on individual student academic and behavioral support plans. Work with students to encourage regular daily attendance and develop positive mentor relationships with assigned students. Provide support to the assigned student in support settings and push into mainstream classes to deliver support services in the least restrictive setting. Gather data for the teacher's progress monitoring. Provide assigned student(s) one-to-one support on using assistive technology, as appropriate. Provide support for student health needs, including training on seizure protocols, diabetes protocols, CGM Blood Sugar Monitor, Hearing Aids, and lift transfer procedures, as well as specialized equipment. Assist the teacher and student(s) in Community-based Instructional opportunities to generalize taught skills and learn and practice the necessary skills for the environment. Provide clerical support to the teacher, as needed. Perform other duties as assigned by the Life Skills Support Teacher, Classroom Teacher, and/or Special Education Supervisor.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent necessary
Recommended:
An associate degree or higher; or Completed at least two years of postsecondary study (48 credits); or The successful completion of a state or locally developed assessment
