Associate Attorney, Special Education and Civil Rights Litigation Rue Law Group Pewee Valley, KY Job Details Part-time | Full-time From $70,000 a year 2 days ago Benefits Health insurance Paid time off Professional development assistance Flexible schedule Qualifications Law Writing skills Court case file organization Legal case management Bar Full Job Description About the firm Rue Law Group is a small plaintiff's litigation practice representing students with disabilities and their families in special education and civil rights cases. Our matters include IDEA due process appeals, federal civil rights actions against school districts and the state, class litigation, and fee-shifting petitions. The firm's cases are litigated in New Jersey and New York, and the work is supervised from Louisville. You will work directly with the firm's founder. This is not a document-review job. You will research and draft briefs, motions, and letter briefs that get filed. You will read administrative records closely, build fee petitions, and carry real responsibility on live cases in federal and state forums. The work moves quickly, demands a lot intellectually, and often matters a great deal to the families involved. What you'll do Research federal and state law on disability rights, education, civil rights, and attorney's fees Draft complaints, motions, briefs, letter briefs, and correspondence Analyze administrative records, IEPs, evaluations, and discovery Build and audit fee petitions and billing records Manage deadlines and case files on an active docket Who we're looking for Admission to the Kentucky bar, or to another UBE jurisdiction, in good standing A UBE score that can be transferred to New Jersey (266 or higher, earned within the past 36 months) is strongly preferred Newly admitted or early-career attorneys, including judicial clerks finishing their terms Strong research and writing skills, shown in a writing sample The judgment to work independently and the discipline to meet deadlines Experience in disability rights, education law, or civil rights is helpful but not required Compensation $70,000 per year, plus reimbursement of 75% of health insurance premiums.
