Job Description

Gem State Public Health AmeriCorps The Gem State Public Health AmeriCorps program partners community members, and students with Public Health Organizations across the state in paid volunteer positions called AmeriCorps positions. These positions offer the opportunity to receive support while volunteering with a local nonprofit. The opportunity is offered each year from September 1st to August 31st every year. This program focuses on increasing capacity of services through handing out and providing mental health resources and suicide intervention and prevention services.
Position Description:
The Special Needs Aide will expand and enhance the capacity of existing public health programs and services by supporting the overall well-being of students with impairments including, but not limited to diabetes, epilepsy, ADHD, health impairment, developmental delay, and autism.
Position Duties:
Provide classroom mental health education. Promote Sources of Strength student activities. Help with student emotional regulation skills. Provide support in supervision and use mental health education in the Community Activities Program. Shadow school counselor. Provide SWOT analysis and Organizational Needs Assessment for PCCS every other Gem Program year and as needed. Help in classroom observation and second steps and Sources of Strength activities. Provide one on one help if the counselor is dealing with multiple students having a hard time with behavioral issues on any given day.
