Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting Teaching Assistants to work in a variety of welcoming and supportive primary schools across Newport. Whether you're an experienced Teaching Assistant, a graduate looking to gain classroom experience, or someone with a background working with children or young people, we'd love to hear from you. We have opportunities available across the Foundation Phase, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 , with both short-term and long-term positions available. The Role As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils both academically and socially, helping them to engage in learning and reach their full potential.
Your responsibilities may include:
✅ Supporting pupils on a one-to-one, small-group or whole-class basis ✅ Assisting teachers in delivering engaging lessons and activities ✅ Helping pupils develop confidence, independence and key learning skills ✅ Supporting children with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) ✅ Working with pupils with ASC, ADHD, SEMH and other additional needs ✅ Encouraging positive behaviour and classroom engagement ✅ Supporting literacy, numeracy and targeted intervention activities ✅ Building positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents Who We're Looking For We are keen to hear from candidates who: Have experience working with children or young people Are patient, enthusiastic and reliable Have strong communication and interpersonal skills Enjoy supporting children to learn and achieve Can work well as part of a team Are adaptable and proactive in different classroom environments Previous school experience is beneficial but not essential.
