TCAT Murfreesboro The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Murfreesboro is accepting applications for a full - time faculty position in the day Cosmetology Instructor Training/Dual Enrollment Instructor. This is a full-time position requiring a minimum 37.5-hour workweek (Monday - Friday). This faculty position is responsible to the Vice President of Instruction and Accreditation for the development, implementation, evaluation, modification, and operation of the Cosmetology program. The position is responsible for providing individualized theory and hands-on instruction to adults and high school students to prepare them for employment in the field. The faculty member must monitor, grade, and evaluate individual student progress; maintain student records in the college's student records management software; maintain appropriate documentation; submit timely reports; and assist in recruitment of new students and placement of graduates. The faculty member must work with all of the Cosmetology program instructors to ensure curriculum continuity. The faculty member must also maintain good public relations with business and industry, maintain an active advisory committee and cooperate with outside agencies. This position will also supervise and follow-up on students participating in cooperative education.MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Qualified candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, (associate degree preferred). Current, valid Cosmetologist license issued by the TN Board of Cosmetology required. Current, valid Cosmetology Instructor license issued by the TN Board of Cosmetology or ability to obtain license before program starts. Minimum of three (3) years of full-time experience. Teaching, training or salon management experience preferred. Must possess a high degree of knowledge in all areas of the instructional field Must pass a background check. Evidence of ability to instruct all phases of Cosmetology, prior teaching experience a plus.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop course of study and conduct training program in specialty area. Confer with administration to gain knowledge and better understand changes in policies, procedures, and technologies. Formulate teaching outline and determine instructional methods utilizing knowledge of specific training needs and effectiveness of such methods as individualized and group instruction, lecture, demonstration, and conference. Select or develop teaching aids, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, and reference materials. Test trainees to measure progress and evaluate effectiveness of instruction. Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills. Must have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to motivate and relate to a diverse student population. Must possess the computer skills necessary to be an effective instructor. Must be willing to learn and use classroom management best practices and individualized instructional techniques. Maintain student records and reports by effectively tracking data on CTE Students in the Cosmetology Instructor and Cosmetology Dual Enrollment programs. Cooperate with outside agencies; work with program advisory committees; conduct visits to business and industry; establish and maintain good public relations with the school's general public. Instruct students in safety and practice good safety habits. Participate in professional development and growth annually. Perform other duties directly related to career and technical education as assigned.WORKING CONDITIONS
Normal standing, sitting, and walking. Work is performed in a classroom and shop setting with frequent interruptions and distractions. Must be physically able to lift up to 50 pounds, stoop, stand and work, with or without accommodation, to demonstrate and perform all work-based projects in a classroom and shop setting. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk; use hands. Use of computer. Operate a motor vehicle to travel within the college service area and in other areas as needed.SALARY:
$51,149 - $61,379 annually This is an exempt position. Salary commensurate with qualifications, education, experience and in accordance with the guidelines established by the Tennessee Board of Regents.GENERAL INFORMATION
