Job Description
SUMMARY Provides instruction and care to one-year-olds by performing the following duties:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned.- Exemplifies godly character as prescribed in the company's constitution in all areas including appearance, dress, communication, and interactions with others.
- Being a help to the teacher
- cutting out crafts, putting together crafts helping children listen and obey during lesson time, helping children with seatwork, etc.
- Helping to teach the children songs, poems, Bible verses, letter, counting etc.
- Preparation of food
- including dumping and filling cups, setting out and cleaning up snacks, helping distribute lunches.
- Feeding of children
- some assistance at lunch may be required (i.
cutting up larger foods:
chicken patties, loaded potatoes, etc.)- Change diapers and garments when soiled. Be able to pick up children and/or helping the children climb the stairs on the changing table.
- Maintains discipline in strict accordance to state regulations and company policy.
- Spends time reading to, singing with, playing with (i.e. stacking blocks, rolling balls, shape sorters, puzzles, cars, playing in kitchen, etc.), and loving on each of the children daily.
- Love and comfort the children when they are upset and/or hurt.
- Listen to the children and interact with the children.
- Help with separation of children and parents.
- Train the children to do what we expect of them (i.e. see learning goals below)
- Maintain cleanliness of room, floors, and bathroom throughout the day. Always leave room clean.
- Clean toys and equipment. Cleaning sheet filled out each week.
- Read the Daycare and Preschool Weekly and complete any required tasks by the deadline.
- "About my Day" Report must be completed and sent home daily in the absence of the teacher.
- Complete all required paperwork daily; including, but not limited to timesheets (front and back), accountability sheets, attendance records, and incident reports (if applicable).
- Need to be willing to work together as a team.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITES
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS
- To perform the position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
EDUCATION
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Ability to read and write in English
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as, but not limited to safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondences.
- Ability to speak effectively to parents about their child's day and behaviors (keeping in mind the sandwich method: something good, something bad, then something good). It is not our job to tell a parent how they should raise their child.
- Ability to speak effectively to coworkers and resolve any issues that may arise.
- Ability to speak effectively to supervisor about any concerns, problems, and needs that arise.
- Ability to ask questions when things are not clear.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to make simple decisions: o It is raining, should I go outside to the playground or should I go to the little gym?
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands and fingers to handle and/or feel.
- The employee is required to stand and walk.
- The employee is frequently required to talk, hear, smell, and reach with hands and arms.
- The employee must regularly lift, hold, and /or move children ages 12 months to 24 months with weight up to but not limited to 30 pounds.
- The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIORMENT
- The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
