Full Job Description Job Summary:
The Elementary Instructional Aide supports the instructional and educational program of the school by assisting teachers in the delivery of lessons and supervision of students. This role includes working directly with students—individually and in small groups—to reinforce learning, encourage engagement, and foster academic and social growth in a safe, inclusive environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate's degree or 48 college units preferred. Experience working with elementary-aged children, preferably in an educational or special education setting. Patience, flexibility, empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting children's growth. Ability to follow teacher direction, take initiative, and work independently when needed. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist the classroom teacher in delivering instructional materials and activities. Provide direct support to students with special needs under the guidance of a special education teacher or case manager. Implement accommodations and modifications outlined in students' IEPs. Monitor and document student progress and behavior as directed. Support students with personal care needs as required (e.g., mobility, toileting, feeding). Supervise students in various settings (classroom, playground, cafeteria, field trips). Use positive behavior support strategies and de-escalation techniques as trained. Help maintain a safe, organized, and inclusive learning environment. Assist with preparation of instructional materials and classroom organization. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all student and staff interactions. Participate in training and professional development related to instructional strategies and special education.
Working Conditions:
May involve physical activities such as standing, walking, lifting, or assisting students with mobility. Must be able to respond to behavioral or safety incidents appropriately. Work is performed in a classroom and campus environment with occasional off-site supervision.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT SALARY
12-month salary contract.
ABOUT SEASHORE LEARNING CENTER
Seashore Learning Center is a public, open-enrollment charter school located on North Padre Island. SLC serves 260 students grades K-4 from North Padre Island, Flour Bluff, Mustang Island, and NAS Corpus Christi. SLC is part of Seashore Charter Schools, which is owned and operated by the Island Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to empowering students to academic excellence and supporting community interests.
