Position Summary The Program Assistant supports the daily operation of JLA by providing hands-on assistance to program participants and staff. This position plays an important role in creating a safe, respectful, engaging, and inclusive environment while supporting clients' independence and participation in daily activities and community outings. Key Responsibilities
On-Site Activities Facilitator
Plan, prepare, and facilitate engaging activities for program participants.
Encourage socialization, skill development, creativity, and meaningful participation.
Assist clients during structured and recreational activities.
Client Safety & Supervision
Provide attentive supervision of clients throughout the program day.
Promote the safety, dignity, and well-being of all participants.
Follow JLA policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
Respond appropriately to client needs and situations that may arise.
Transportation & Local Outings
Transport clients to and from approved local outings and community activities.
Serve as the responsible staff member for clients during assigned local outings.
Maintain appropriate supervision and ensure client safety throughout community activities.
Follow all applicable transportation and safety requirements.
Common-Area Cleanup & Safety
Clean and maintain common areas used by clients and staff.
Help keep activity spaces organized, sanitary, and free of hazards.
Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), which will be provided by JLA.
Support a clean and safe environment throughout the program day.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required.
Experience working with adults with disabilities or special needs preferred.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required for transportation duties.
Ability to successfully complete required background checks and meet applicable program requirements.
Ability to perform the physical duties associated with client supervision, activities, transportation, and maintaining a safe environment.
