Job Description
Primary Purpose Assist the teacher in the academic development of students; assist in the preparation and organization of classroom activities. Actively engage in actions that contribute to the overall mission and strategic plan of Clear Creek ISD. Qualifications Education/Certification/Licensure High school diploma or GED Educational Aide II certification 15 college hours or passing score on Paraprofessional Exam Special Knowledge/Skills Effective communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work well with children Ability to use general office equipment Possess common sense, patience, tolerance Knowledge of basic sign language preferred Experience Verifiable experience working with children (e.g., daycare, Sunday school, sports, girls/boy scouts) Major Responsibilities and Duties Support and assist the teacher or teaching team with teaching duties, including working in small groups or with individual students to conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher. Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations, and state and local board policy. Reinforce appropriate behavior according to teacher's plan and school plan as well as assist in classroom discipline and behavior management as developed by the ARD committee. Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments. Supervise students throughout the school day inside and outside the classroom. Keep the teacher informed of any special needs or problems, including behavior, of individual students. Administer to students with severe physical handicaps by lifting, feeding, cleaning, maintaining hygiene, and any other personal services that the student requires. Responsible for use of safe procedures of physical intervention with acting-out students. Implement individualized provision of positive and negative reinforcement for student behaviors. Assist in preparing, modifying, or adapting teaching materials or equipment to individual needs of students. Assist in inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment. Assist the teacher in keeping administrative records and preparing required reports. Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings, and special events as needed. Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers. Exhibit CCISD Core Values of trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship. Utilize time wisely for effective management of job responsibilities. Maintain punctuality in daily work times, appointments, and meetings. Meet task completion deadlines established by supervisor. Maintain friendly customer-service-driven interactions with all stakeholders, students, teachers, administrators, and co-workers. Work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure that the goals of the school/department are met. Maintain a positive and professional tone in all communication (i.e. email, written, and verbal). Perform other duties and accept other responsibilities as assigned.
