Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Teacher Assistant to join our dynamic educational team. Duties Assist classroom teachers with lesson planning, instructional activities, and classroom management to promote effective learning experiences. Provide one-on-one or small group support for students with disabilities, including those with autism spectrum disorders and developmental disabilities. Support students social-emotional development by implementing behavior management strategies and behavioral disorders support techniques. Help facilitate communication using American Sign Language (ASL) when applicable, ensuring effective interaction for students with communication needs. Assist with physical tasks such as mobility support, classroom setup, and childcare routines including helping with bathroom needs. Collaborate closely with teachers, specialists, and other professionals to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) aligned with the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). Maintain confidentiality of student information while documenting progress, behavior incidents, and other relevant records accurately. Qualifications Demonstrated knowledge of childhood development principles and classroom support strategies for students with disabilities. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, or special education needs is essential. Strong communication skills, including proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL), written skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members. Familiarity with behavior management techniques tailored for students with behavioral challenges or behavioral disorders support. Ability to handle confidential information responsibly and maintain professional boundaries at all times. Physical ability to assist students physically when necessary and support their mobility within the classroom environment.
