Overview :
Shiloh is a community-based residential and day treatment program located near Pearland. Our facility is looking for a dedicated Teacher Aide to join our team. We serve students who qualify for special educational services including, intellectually disabled, emotionally disturbed, and autism based on their full and individual evaluations (FIE). We are a TEA approved facility and follow all state and federal laws and guidelines regarding education. Working with local districts, we implement services identified in the student's individual education plan (IEP). Our students all have severe challenges and our goal is to reduce their barriers to progress, while providing a collaboratively therapeutic approach to address all needs, so they can return to a less restrictive educational setting successfully. Must be able to work year round, including summer. Must have experience working with individuals with disabilities or behavioral issues.
Responsibilities :
- Assist in the implementation of lesson plans and educational activities under the guidance of the special education teacher.
- Support students in various subjects, including math, literacy, and other areas of the curriculum.
- Work with students on individualized goals related to childhood development and academic progress.
- Assist in inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
- Keep the teacher(s) informed of any special needs or problems of individual students.
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with diverse learning needs, including those with autism.
- Assist in maintaining a neat and orderly classroom.
- Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings, and special events, as needed.
- Assist the teacher(s) in keeping administrative records and preparing required reports.
- Assist in classroom management and behavior support strategies.
- Assist in supervising students throughout the school day, both inside and outside the classroom.
- Assist students with ADL's as needed.
Experience :
The successful candidate should have experience or skills in the following areas:
- Working with children or students in an educational setting
- Knowledge of childhood development principles
- Experience working with students with autism or other special needs
- Strong classroom management skills
Qualifications:
RBT certification preferred Teacher Aide certification preferred
Education/Certification:
High School Diploma or GED
