The ELA Teacher Aide supports the ELA teacher in creating a positive, organized, and engaging learning environment. The aide assists students with reading, writing, language arts assignments, classroom activities, and individual learning needs while encouraging students to grow academically and develop confidence in their God-given abilities.
ESSENTIAL
RESPONSIBILITIESClassroom & Instructional Support Assist the ELA teacher with daily classroom instruction and activities. Work with individual students or small groups as directed by the teacher. Provide additional support with reading comprehension, vocabulary, spelling, grammar, writing, and language skills. Help students understand and follow classroom directions. Assist students with completing assignments and staying on task. Reinforce skills and concepts taught by the ELA teacher. Help prepare worksheets, learning materials, bulletin boards, and classroom resources. Assist with grading assignments and organizing student work as directed by the teacher. Provide appropriate encouragement and academic support while promoting student independence. Student Support Encourage students who struggle with reading and writing. Assist students with organization, note-taking, and completing assignments. Help students develop good study habits and classroom routines. Monitor student progress and communicate concerns to the ELA teacher. Provide appropriate accommodations and support as directed by the teacher. Assist students during independent work, group activities, projects, and assessments. Classroom Management Help maintain a safe, respectful, and productive classroom. Reinforce classroom rules and expectations established by the teacher. Redirect students appropriately when they become distracted or off task. Assist with classroom transitions and supervision. Report significant academic or behavioral concerns to the supervising teacher.

PROFESSIONAL EXPECTATIONS
The ELA Teacher Aide is expected to: Arrive on time and prepared for the school day. Follow the direction of the ELA teacher and administration. Work cooperatively with teachers, aides, administrators, and other staff. Maintain student confidentiality. Communicate professionally with students, staff, and families. Attend required staff meetings and training. Follow all school policies and procedures. Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with students. Be dependable, flexible, patient, and willing to assist wherever needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Experience working with children or students. Strong reading, writing, and communication skills. Ability to work effectively with individual students and small groups. Ability to follow directions and work as part of a team. Previous classroom or educational experience preferred. A heart for serving children and supporting Christian education.
CONFIDENTIALITY
The ELA Teacher Aide must maintain confidentiality regarding student grades, academic performance, behavior, family information, and other private student matters.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The position requires the ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, reach, and move throughout the classroom and school as needed. The aide must be able to perform routine classroom and student-support duties.
PERFORMANCE EVALUATION
Performance will be evaluated by the ELA teacher and/or Head of School according to Heart Dream Christian Academy policies and expectations. "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord." — Colossians 3:23
