9664141-78109 Job Description Empower students in a supportive educational environment as you work alongside passionate educators and contribute meaningfully through your skills as an ASL Paraprofessional. This opportunity offers the chance to make a real difference for children with hearing loss in a dynamic, collaborative school setting. You'll provide one-on-one or small-group support to students, assisting with communication, access to curriculum, and engagement in the school community. Expect a consistent 37.5-hour work week on-site, supporting students primarily at Mission Academy, with the possibility of working at nearby Highlands High School as needed.
Desired Experience & Qualifications:
Associates degree or higher, OR At least 48 college semester hours recognized by the Texas Education Agency (or similar regional body) plus a completed Stedi.org paraeducator course with a passing score of 70% or above, OR Pediatric or school-based experience working with children with hearing loss Bachelors degree preferred Prior school or paraprofessional experience a plus Strong American Sign Language (ASL) proficiency Knowledge of strategies that foster inclusion and support diverse learners Eligibility for fingerprinting and background check clearance
Key Responsibilities:
Provide ASL interpretation and support for students with hearing loss, ages spanning from primary to high school Collaborate with teachers and related service providers to facilitate access to instruction and materials Support students social, emotional, and academic growth Assist with classroom management and instructional modifications Foster a positive, inclusive environment within assigned school This contract position offers a fulfilling role making a daily impact in students lives.
