Position Overview We are seeking a kind, patient, dependable, and flexible Floating Teacher Assistant to support our classrooms and school throughout the day. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with children of all ages and is comfortable stepping into different classrooms and helping wherever needed. The Floating Teacher Assistant will work alongside our teaching teams to provide support and help maintain a positive, safe, and engaging environment for children ages 6 weeks to 6 years .
Hours:
Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM-1:00 PM This position is currently part-time but has the potential to grow into a full-time position in the future based on enrollment and the needs of the school. We also prefer someone who has flexibility to stay later when needed, particularly when a teacher calls out or afternoon enrollment increases.
Key Responsibilities Classroom Support:
Assist teachers with daily classroom activities, routines, transitions, and lessons.
All Age Groups:
Be comfortable working with children from 6 weeks through 6 years old and moving between different classrooms as needed.
Teacher Support:
Provide teachers with bathroom breaks and other short breaks throughout the day.
Lunch Support:
Pass lunch to classrooms and assist teachers and children during lunch routines.
Teacher Coverage:
Fill in for teachers when someone calls out or is unexpectedly absent.
Environment Maintenance:
Help maintain clean, organized, and prepared classrooms that support the Montessori environment.
Child Supervision:
Help ensure a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment during classroom activities, outdoor play, meals, and transitions.
Grace and Courtesy:
Model respectful communication and help children develop positive social and emotional skills.
Material Management:
Assist with preparing, organizing, and maintaining classroom materials and supplies.
Front Office Support:
Assist with front office tasks and other school responsibilities when needed.
Teamwork:
Work closely with teachers and administration and be willing to step in wherever additional support is needed.
Flexibility:
Be willing to adjust responsibilities throughout the day based on classroom and school needs.
Qualifications Experience:
Previous experience working with young children is required.
Montessori Experience:
Previous Montessori experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate.
Age Groups:
Must be comfortable working with children ranging from 6 weeks to 6 years old .
Personality:
Kind, patient, nurturing, dependable, and flexible.
Teamwork:
Strong communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
Adaptability:
Comfortable working in different classrooms and adjusting to the needs of different age groups.
Availability:
Must be dependable and able to work the scheduled 9:00 AM-1:00 PM hours, with a preference for someone who has flexibility to stay later when needed.
Certification:
CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
Education:
