Teacher's Assistant /
Afterschool Teacher Position Type:
Full-Time (9:00 AM - 6:00 PM, Monday-Friday)
Reports To:
Administrator and Lead Teacher Position Summary Reach Academy Christian School is seeking a caring, energetic, Teacher's Assistant / Afterschool Teacher to support our teachers during the school day and lead our Afterschool Program each afternoon. This individual will play an important role in creating a safe, engaging, and nurturing learning environment while helping students grow academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with children of various ages, is flexible, dependable, and has a servant's heart. Primary Responsibilities Teacher's Assistant (9:00 AM - 3:00 PM) Assist Lead Teachers with daily classroom instruction and activities. Work one-on-one and in small groups to reinforce academic skills. Support students who need additional academic or behavioral assistance. Prepare classroom materials, learning centers, and instructional resources. Supervise students during lunch, recess, and classroom transitions. Assist with classroom organization, bulletin boards, and maintaining a clean learning environment. Help monitor student behavior while encouraging positive Christian character. Provide classroom coverage as needed and serve as a floating assistant between classrooms. Support students with special learning needs under the direction of the classroom teacher and Student Support staff. Afterschool Teacher (3:00 PM - 6:00 PM) Supervise students in the Reach Academy Afterschool Program. Plan and lead engaging activities including homework assistance, games, crafts, STEM projects, Bible activities, outdoor play, and enrichment opportunities. Ensure students complete homework in a quiet, supportive environment. Maintain a safe, structured, and positive atmosphere. Build positive relationships with students and families. Monitor student attendance and ensure safe dismissal to authorized adults. Communicate any concerns or incidents to the Administrator. Assist with snack distribution and cleanup. Maintain classrooms and common areas used during afterschool. Qualifications High school diploma required. Associate's or Bachelor's degree (completed or in progress) preferred. Previous experience working with children in a school, daycare, church, or afterschool setting preferred. Strong classroom management and organizational skills. Positive attitude, flexibility, and willingness to serve where needed. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced school environment. CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain). Must successfully complete all required background checks. Supports the mission and Statement of Faith of Reach Academy Christian School. Models Christian character through words, actions, and relationships. Serves as a positive role model for students and families. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 30 pounds. Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and actively supervise children throughout the day. Ability to participate in outdoor activities and playground supervision. $35,000.00 - $40,000.00 per year
