Pre-Primary Assistant Teacher - 2-Year-Old Classroom We are seeking a dedicated, energetic, and nurturing Pre-Primary Assistant Teacher to join our early childhood education team and support our 2-year-old classroom. This position plays an important role in creating a safe, structured, engaging, and loving learning environment where young children can develop independence, confidence, social-emotional skills, and a strong foundation for learning. The ideal candidate is patient, dependable, positive, and passionate about working with young children. The Pre-Primary Assistant Teacher will work closely with the Lead Teacher and school leadership to implement daily curriculum, maintain classroom routines, provide attentive supervision, and ensure that each child's individual needs are met. Responsibilities Assist the Lead Teacher with implementing developmentally appropriate lesson plans and classroom activities. Support learning experiences that promote early literacy, math, language development, practical life skills, sensory exploration, fine and gross motor development, and social-emotional growth. Provide active supervision and direct care to children throughout the school day, including classroom activities, meals, transitions, outdoor play, rest time, and toileting/diapering routines. Maintain a warm, nurturing, and respectful classroom environment where children feel safe and supported. Use positive guidance, redirection, and age-appropriate behavior management techniques. Encourage independence, cooperation, communication, and appropriate peer interactions. Observe children's development and communicate relevant information to the Lead Teacher and school leadership. Assist with documenting children's daily activities, care routines, and classroom learning as required. Maintain a clean, organized, sanitary, and inviting classroom environment. Properly clean and sanitize classroom materials, learning areas, and equipment throughout the day. Assist with classroom transitions while maintaining accurate child counts and appropriate supervision. Communicate professionally and respectfully with children, families, coworkers, and school leadership. Follow all school policies and procedures, licensing requirements, health and safety standards, and classroom expectations. Participate in staff meetings, required training, professional development, and school events as needed. Be flexible and willing to assist in other classrooms or areas of the school based on staffing, ratio, and program needs. Qualifications Previous experience working with toddlers, 2-year-olds, preschool-age children, or in a licensed childcare setting is preferred. Knowledge of early childhood development and developmentally appropriate practices is preferred. Experience implementing positive behavior guidance and classroom management strategies. Ability to provide patient, nurturing, and responsive care to young children. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Dependable, punctual, organized, and able to follow established classroom routines and procedures. Ability to remain actively engaged with children throughout the workday. Comfortable assisting with diapering, toileting, feeding, cleaning, and other routine care needs associated with a 2-year-old classroom. Willingness to complete all required childcare licensing training, background checks, and professional development. Montessori, preschool, private school, or early childhood education experience is a plus.
