Job Summary:
The 1:1 Special Education Paraprofessional/RBT will support student(s) within our special education crew by providing individualized academic, behavioral, and social support. This role is essential in helping students access their education in a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment. Preferred candidates will have Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification and training, as well as experience working with students with autism.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 support to assigned student(s) throughout the school day Implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) developed by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) Support students with behavioral, social, emotional, and learning needs Collaborate closely with the
BCBA, SPED
teacher, classroom teachers, and school staff Work under the supervision of the SPED Director to ensure consistency and fidelity of interventions Assist students in accessing curriculum, classroom routines, and school activities Maintain student safety and promote positive behavior in all settings Collect and document data as required for behavioral and educational goals Maintain confidentiality and follow all school and district policies Attend team meetings, trainings, and professional development as required
Work Environment:
School-based setting, working in both general and special education classrooms. May involve standing, walking, lifting, and physically supporting students as needed. Requires flexibility, patience, and adaptability to meet student needs.
Qualifications:
Current certification as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) through the BACB. High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in education, psychology, or related field preferred. Experience working with children with autism or behavioral challenges is strongly preferred. Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team. CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willing to obtain.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
Prefer 2-3 years of school experience RBT and Autism training and experience
