A Teacher Assistant assists classroom teachers by providing extra individual attention and instruction to students. Helps teachers with recordkeeping, preparation for lessons and activities and supervising students. May work with special education students, or work in a school library or computer lab; may be called teacher aide or paraprofessional.

Teacher Assistant:
Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Must hold a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or be willing to enroll in a CDA credential program to be completed within two years of hire. Ability and willingness to work directly with young children in a hands-on classroom environment. Ability to support the implementation of developmentally appropriate learning experiences and positive child guidance practices. Preferred Qualifications Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field with coursework in early childhood education. Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field with coursework in early childhood education. Previous experience working with preschool-aged children in a classroom or early childhood setting. Experience working with children with disabilities or special needs. The RUCD team works well together to provide strong support and leadership, creating a consistent and quality learning environment. Children receive individualized lesson plans with developmentally appropriate learning experiences, and families are involved with their children's education while they receive assistance with personal goals, parenting information, and leadership through parent committees and Policy Council.
