This position provides assistance in implementing plans and programs related to functional skill development for students with cognitive, physical, or emotional learning challenges. This position will work directly with students individually or at times in small groups.
Job Qualifications:
Ability to maintain confidentiality, remain calm under trying circumstances and communicate clearly, using patience and care to provide students of varying abilities an active learning environment. High School Diploma 1 or more years working with students with disabilities desired but not required. RBT certification not required but a valued Hourly wage dependent on experience and education
Requirements Essential Job Functions:
Assist in implementing lesson or behavior modification plans Assist in adapting classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under the direction of the supervising teacher to support and reinforce classroom objectives Monitor students during assigned periods within a variety of school environments (restroom, hallway, playground, cafeteria) Make observations, collect data, give input to appropriate staff With appropriate supervision and training, assist in teaching communication skills, implementing behavior and learning programs with the use of behavior modification and crisis intervention Attend meetings and in-service presentations for the purpose of acquiring information relative to job functions Communicate with supervising teacher and professional support personnel to assist in evaluating progress and implementing IEP goals Salary $15-$16 per hour DOE, 28 hours per week.
