Position Overview:
The After-School Qur'an Teacher Assistant supports the Qur'an lead instructor in delivering engaging, age-appropriate Qur'an lessons to students in grades K-12. The teacher assistant helps maintain a positive and respectful classroom environment, provides individualized support to students in recitation and memorization, and ensures smooth day-to-day classroom operations. Key Responsibilities Instructional Support Assist the Qur'an lead instructor with lesson preparation, activities, and supervision. Support students with tajwid(pronunciation) (memorization) and reading fluency according to their level Provide one-on-one or small group support to students who need extra help. Reinforce classroom lessons and help students practice accurate recitation. Assist in adapting support to meet various learner needs, including social and emotional learning needs. Classroom Management & Student Support Help maintain a positive, respectful, and well-managed classroom environment rooted in Islamic adab (manners). Offer emotional support and help students regulate behavior and transitions Supervise students during class transitions, breaks, and dismissal. Maintain a safe and organized classroom environment for all learners. Administrative & Program Support Take attendance, track memorization and recitation progress, and help organize student materials. Communicate behavioral, emotional, or learning concerns to the lead instructor or program coordinator. Assist with classroom routines and overall program operations. Qualifications Strong Qur'an reading skills and with correct tajwid Ability to assist with memorization and guide students in recitation. Certified to teach Noorani Qaida, strongly preferred Previous experience working with children is required. Prior teaching experience is preferred. Experience in special education or supporting students with diverse learning needs is a plus (preferred, not required). Arabic and English fluency is required. Patient, compassionate, and able to support students' social, emotional, and well-being needs. Demonstrated Islamic character, professionalism, punctuality, and strong teamwork skills. High school diploma required; relevant coursework in Education and Islamic and Quranic Studies preferred. Collaborative, Flexible, and open to feedback from
