JOB SUMMARY
This position provides 1:1 or 1:2 support to children ages 2½-7 with Autism Spectrum Disorder in the preschool setting. Positive Support for Children with Autism DBA Daisy Care provides high quality center-based childcare and therapeutic support using the principles of applied behavioral analysis (ABA). We are seeking a Teacher's Aid/Assistant Teacher to work our afterschool program. This position will be responsible for implementing treatment plans created by the supervising Licensed Behavioral Analyst and will be responsible for the custodial care of children receiving daycare services.
A qualified candidate must be:
  • At least 16 years of age by the first day of training.
  • Have interest in advancing in the human service or education sectors.
  • Be available to work M-F 1:30pm-6:30pm.
  • Experience working or volunteering with individuals with special needs (preferred but not required). Specialized Skills
  • Ability to interact and communicate both verbally and in writing with seriously emotionally disturbed adolescents, other staff and the public.
  • Ability to walk, run and play active games with small children.
  • Ability to operate the basic functions of an IPad and/or laptop
  • Ability to consistently maintain a high level of professionalism including punctuality, effective time manager, and effective communication with all stakeholders.
Physical Requirements Ability to physically assist in lifting and carrying assaultive adolescents weighing up to 200 lbs. Ability to visually and audibly assess adolescent's behavior and needs. Ability to walk, run and play active games with the adolescents. Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time, up to 3 hrs at a time.
POTENTIAL JOB HAZARDS
