About VEER Valley Early Education Reimagined (VEER) is a nonprofit organization that operates high-quality, financially sustainable early education and childcare centers in Harrisonburg and Rockingham County. VEER is a public-private partnership created to increase access and affordability for families while improving compensation and career pathways for educators. VEER childcare centers are state-licensed and use a state-certified curriculum, with the goal of providing children, families, and educators the support they need to learn and grow. Position Summary VEER is hiring an Assistant Teacher to help create a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment where children can grow socially, emotionally, and cognitively. This is a hands-on role working directly with children throughout the day.

Schedule:

Monday through Friday, rotating shifts 6:45 AM - 3:45 PM / 8:30PM - 5:30 PM.

Year-round Compensation:

$40,000 plus paid personal days + holidays. Health insurance allowance, 10% retirement contribution after first year of employment Spanish speakers are strongly preferred. Qualifications Must be at least 18 years old (16+ may be considered per state minimums, but 18+ preferred) High school diploma or GED required. Experience with young children Reliable, punctual, and able to work the full day's schedule Patient and nurturing, with a calm, positive approach Able to pass a background check (required for all Virginia childcare staff) Current or willing to obtain CPR/First Aid certification Able to lift/carry a child weighing up to approximately 40 lbs., and to sit, kneel, and stand for extended periods Responsibilities Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing daily activities and the classroom curriculum Engage with and supervise children during play, other activities, meals, and rest/nap time Maintain required staff-to-child ratios and never leave children unsupervised Support toileting, hand-washing, snack/mealtime, and other self-help routines Use positive, age-appropriate guidance to support social-emotional development Keep the classroom clean, organized, and safe throughout the day Communicate observations about children's day to Lead Teacher Build warm, respectful relationships with children and families To Apply Submit your cover letter and resume .
