Job Description

Job Overview Join our early childhood education team as an Assistant Preschool Teacher for our afternoon program! In this role, you will support lead teachers in creating a nurturing, engaging, and educational environment for young children. Your enthusiasm and dedication will help foster a love of learning, promote social-emotional development, and ensure a safe and positive classroom experience.
Work Schedule :
9 months
  • late August through May. Looking for assistant to support Monday
  • Friday for our afternoon program.
Each afternoon program school day starts at 11:45 AM and lasts until 4:15 PM or until such time as all students are dismissed. Opportunities to work during our summer camp.
Qualifications:
Must meet all qualifications as outlined by the State Board of Education to include: Some college level relevant course work or certification or experience working with children. Duties
  • Assistant Teacher will supervise class of students (9 students or less) or help supervise a class of students (10 students or more) for Lunch.
  • Assist with all aspects of the afternoon program to include: lunch eating, setup and clean-up, outdoor play, rest time, assist Lead Teacher with activities of the day, all clean-up duties, dismissal.
  • May be asked to help with a sick child or a child whose clothes are soiled and need changing.
  • Know school rules of safety and is responsible for enforcing these rules.
  • Communicate with students, coworkers, and parents in a constructive and professional manner.
  • Attend staff meetings and special events, such as Back-to-School Night, as agreed with the Director.
  • Meet all required staff development/training as required by the State of Virginia Standards, including Mandated Reported training, First Aid/CPR/AED training, and continuing education (currently 16 hours per year).
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director.
