Job Description
Are you a retired or former elementary school teacher who misses working with children—but not the demands of a traditional school system? Maybe you have years of experience in education, childcare, youth programs, or caring for children and would enjoy putting that experience to meaningful use on a part-time schedule. Light Years Child Development Center is looking for mature, dependable, and experienced individuals to join our teaching team. We are recruiting for several part-time opportunities, including Lead Teachers, Assistant Teachers, and Classroom Support positions. We are open to meeting great candidates and determining the right role based on your experience, education, credentials, availability, and the current needs of our center. Compensation is flexible and will reflect the qualifications and value you bring to the position. Retired teachers, former educators, paraprofessionals, substitute teachers, experienced childcare professionals, and individuals with substantial experience working with children are strongly encouraged to apply.
What You May Do:
Lead or assist with age-appropriate classroom activities and lessons Read to children and encourage language, social, and academic development Help children with classroom routines, transitions, meals, and personal care Provide patient, consistent, and positive guidance Support classroom organization, cleanliness, and safety Observe children and communicate important information to the teaching team Build positive, professional relationships with children, families, and coworkers Follow center policies and childcare licensing requirements You May Be aGreat Fit If You:
Have experience teaching, supervising, mentoring, or caring for children Are dependable, patient, attentive, and comfortable working as part of a team Understand how to guide children with both warmth and appropriate boundaries Want meaningful part-time work where your experience will be respected Are willing to learn the routines and requirements of an early childhood classroom Can complete all required background checks, health screenings, and training Are physically able to move throughout the classroom, sit at a child's level, and assist with daily activities Previous experience in an elementary school, preschool, childcare center, Head Start program, after-school program, church nursery, or similar setting is preferred. Lead Teacher candidates may be required to meet additional education, credential, and licensing qualifications.
