Position Overview WCCC is seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and dedicated Full-Time Preschool/Pre-K Assistant Teacher to join our teaching team. The Assistant Teacher works closely with the Lead Teacher to create a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom environment where young children are encouraged to explore, learn, build relationships, and develop confidence and independence. What You'll Do As a Preschool/Pre-K Assistant Teacher, you will play an important role in supporting children's learning, development, and overall well-being.

Responsibilities include:

Partnering with the Lead Teacher to implement engaging, developmentally appropriate daily learning experiences Participating in individual, small-group, and large-group activities that support children's social-emotional, language, literacy, cognitive, physical, and creative development Engaging children through reading, art, music, movement, imaginative play, hands-on exploration, and other meaningful learning experiences Supporting early literacy, language, math, problem-solving, and school-readiness skills through developmentally appropriate activities Building positive, responsive relationships with children and providing individualized attention and encouragement Supporting positive behavior and helping children develop self-regulation, independence, cooperation, and conflict-resolution skills Assisting with classroom management and maintaining a safe, welcoming, clean, and organized learning environment Preparing classroom materials, learning centers, and activities in collaboration with the teaching team Supporting daily routines, transitions, meals, rest periods, toileting, and other classroom responsibilities Maintaining appropriate sight and sound supervision of children at all times Observing children's interests, strengths, and developmental progress and communicating observations with the Lead Teacher Communicating professionally and respectfully with families, both verbally and in writing Collaborating with teaching team members and other WCCC staff to provide consistent, high-quality care and education Following all WCCC policies, health and safety procedures, and applicable early childhood education and licensing requirements What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who: Has a genuine love of working with young children Is warm, patient, dependable, and nurturing Understands that children learn best through meaningful relationships, play, exploration, and hands-on experiences Can create positive relationships with children while maintaining appropriate classroom expectations and boundaries Communicates effectively and professionally with children, families, and coworkers Works well as part of a team and is willing to support classroom colleagues when needed Is flexible, dependable, and able to adapt to the changing needs of a busy preschool classroom Demonstrates professionalism and a commitment to providing high-quality early childhood experiences Has an understanding of child development and developmentally appropriate practices Experience supporting children with diverse learning needs, including children with disabilities or developmental differences, is valued. Minimum Requirements High school diploma or equivalent Must be 18 years of age or older Experience working with young children is preferred Preferred Qualifications Child Development Associate (CDA) credential Associate degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Elementary Education, or a related field Current enrollment in an early childhood education, child development, or related degree or credentialing program One or more years of professional experience working with young children Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices and early childhood education best practices Additional Requirements Successful completion of all required background checks prior to employment Current Infant/Child CPR and First Aid certification, or the ability to obtain certification within 90 days of hire Documentation of a negative tuberculosis screening Make a Difference Every Day Working in early childhood education is more than a job—it is an opportunity to help children develop the skills, confidence, curiosity, and relationships that will support them for years to come.
