Job Description

The Homestead is looking for a caring, dependable, and enthusiastic Assistant Teacher to join one of our toddler classrooms in South Burlington. Working with toddlers is never boring! Our Assistant Teachers help create a warm, nurturing environment where children feel safe, supported, and excited to explore the world around them. You'll work alongside a Lead Teacher to care for and engage children through play, activities, routines, outdoor time, and plenty of opportunities for learning and discovery. What we're looking for Someone who genuinely enjoys working with young children Experience working with toddlers or young children preferred A patient, nurturing, and energetic personality Someone who is dependable and works well as part of a team Someone who can be flexible and comfortable with the sometimes unpredictable nature of working with toddlers Completion of at least one 3-credit college course related to child development, or willingness to complete Vermont's Fundamentals in Early Education workshops What you'll do Support the Lead Teacher with the daily care and education of toddlers Engage children in developmentally appropriate activities and play Help with meals, diapering, toileting, and other daily routines Participate in indoor and outdoor activities Help maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming classroom Build positive relationships with children and families Work collaboratively with a team dedicated to providing high-quality care Why The Homestead?
