Responsibilities:

• Enthusiastic about working with young children, ages 2.5 to 6 years
• Positive, energetic, punctual, and dependable
• Physically able to engage with children on their level and to carry a child in case of emergency
• Curious about the Montessori philosophy and eager to participate in further professional development
• Able to effectively communicate and successfully collaborate with a variety of people
• Able to establish meaningful, warm relationships with children, parents, and staff Responsibilities may include but not limited to:
• Providing patient, predictable, safe and consistent care within the classroom and in the outdoor environment
• Prepare and serve snack
• Keep the classroom neat and organized.
• Supporting children in all daily activities while guiding each towards independence
• Maintaining the order, readiness and cleanliness of the classroom and shared building space
• Maintaining overview of the classroom activity during individual and group lessons
• Assisting the Lead Teacher in implementing individualized strategies and accommodations to support the children's cognitive, social and emotional development

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma required. Bachelor degree preferable
• Infant/Child & Adult CPR (to be completed within one month of hire)
• First Aid ( to be completed within one month of hire)
• HIV/ Blood-borne Pathogen (to be completed within one month of hire)
• Food Worker Card (to be completed within one month of hire)
• Childcare Basics (to be completed within 90 days of hire)
• DCYF Portable Background check (to be completed prior to date of hire)
• Professional record up to date in MERIT Registry
